New River Gorge Bridge

The New River Gorge Bridge is one of West Virginia’s most popular tourist attractions—and rightfully so! It stands at a remarkable height of 876 feet, stretching 3,030 feet across the New River. The bridge is located within the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.

Drone operators, take note: drones cannot takeoff, land, or operate from New River Gorge (or any National Park Service) property without permission. However, the restriction to drone operations is limited only to operations involving NPS property—the limitations do not involve the airspace above the property. The National Park Service memo outlining the agency’s drone rule clarified that caveat in FAQ #9: https://www.nps.gov/policy/PolMemos/PM_14-05.htm.
